CMD Identity

By lemmyboy

Internships are over, and we are all going back to school again. New location, new teachers, new schedules… It actually feels like a completely new school, only I still got the same friends. But I think it’s actually a good move. The location looks nice, although some stuff could be better (need to go to the toilet?! go home!!!). And I really do believe we are gonna have a good time here. But one thing still really concerns me though. Who, or what are we? I really don’t see somekind of identity wich we as students can relate to. For example take the 3 main websites (why the hell three?!) we have to visit in order to get our documents and stuff. And what do we see; Three complete different websites, with really weird structures and they even seem to communicate with each other wich really confuses the user. How come a school called “Communication & Multimedia Design” doesn’t have a good identity? or at least a user friendly web enviorment?

Now I know it’s freakin easy to whine about school… But this is really a big problem and apparently nobody cares. To be honest I’ve never much cared about these websites either. Butduring my internship I saw how important it is to have a good identity and not confusing the user by mixing stuff up.

Did you think that’s all the sites we have? http://www.mediaaandemaas.com ;-)

It’s true – communication of identity internally is important, but it’s also the most neglected area, in my experience. It would have to be given a strategic goal and a high priority by the management. Personally, this is an example of a priority which I would put ahead of new classroom decorations and such. Along with other things like operational support.
